What Will The Privacy Group Do For You?

Consulting - Compass

The core of what we do is help our clients build scalable privacy programs and better understand data privacy laws. Since the GDPR came into effect in 2018, many countries have followed in the EU's footsteps. By the end of 2023, it is estimated that 65% of the world's population will be protected by a data privacy law. While most are heavily influenced by the GDPR, not all are the same or applied the same way.

Global privacy is changing fast and keeping up is getting harder. In the U.S, several states are either working on privacy legislation currently or already have a data privacy law enacted. This burst of activity in privacy laws has companies scrambling and privacy professionals in high demand. Getting good advice or hiring qualified people can be the difference should your company experience a data breach.

What Does A Data Privacy Consultant Do?

Data privacy consultants are people who have a deep understanding of privacy laws, risk management, data protection and business processes.  But the real value is not simply how well they know data privacy laws like the GDPR or CCPA.  The real value comes from being able to deliver pragmatic, scalable solutions for your company.  A skilled privacy professional will help you build a compliance program that will preserve the trust of your customers and protect your brand.  A successful privacy program starts with understanding your company's goals and building a roadmap to get out of the data graveyard.  Our team of IAPP certified privacy professionals will help you achieve privacy by design and preserve your business agility.

Do I Need A Data Privacy Expert?

Everyone has heard of the GDPR and the CCPA (CPRA). Have you heard of PECR? If you haven't, you're not alone. As comprehensive as the privacy laws are in the EU, "The Cookie Law", as it's known, gets overlooked quite often. The difference is the GDPR is specific to processing of personal data and PECR, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulation has to do with digital types of marketing. While the two are both focused on privacy, they come with different obligations. Things like onboarding technology or vendors and planning for marketing or even human resources come with data privacy requirements. These days, privacy notices and privacy audits seem small by comparison. Global privacy is changing faster every year and privacy program management is growing every more sophisticated. Do you have the data privacy experts you need to navigate privacy program management? We do, and we can help.

Data Privacy Consulting Services FAQ

Surprisingly, we get asked this a lot. No. Consulting services are expensive, hours add up quickly and we know that. To charge someone for a 90 second phone call or a 2 minute email is not how we treat our clients. We bill when we are delivering value and when our time is being used.

We do not develop or resell privacy technology but we do enjoy good relationships with leading companies in the privacy information management systems (PIMS) space. We are happy to work with the tools your company is using or we can help you find one to meet your company's need.

Yes, we do. While we hope never to offer these services, we're here to help when needed.

We do. We advise that training people up internally is the more cost-effective option long term. We happily transfer knowledge during our engagement which helps but we do also offer fully outsourced services.
